A new love, abseiling, Mt Ngungun
I found a new love, a new kind of flying………. Its called abseiling!
“If you were an animal, what would you be?”
For me, it was always “a bird: because they can fly”! Flying high in sky!
I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to fly like a bird. I even dream of flying, having large wings that i can spread run and jump of the edge, feeling the wind and the breeze in my hair, weightless! Zooming, racing all around high and low, with the breath taking views fresh air in my lungs and the adrenaline rush of flying!
I believe that is why I enjoy abseiling so much. Do you know what I mean? When you’re flying down the rope see,…….. flying!, I used the word without thinking about it the wind and your hair becomes one, it feels like freedom!
Learning to abseil was an amazing experience and one im never going to forget!
I felt small as I look up at the mountain towering above me the one im going to abseil down!
The walk up the mountain path wasn’t difficult, but I felt the beat of my heart increase inside my chest. Maybe i was nervous, im always nervous 🙂 It was loud like an echo declaring, “You are alive!” “You are free!”
Rocks, steps, beautiful bush, branches and the sound of birds singing.
Getting over the edge was by far the hardest part. Having the confidence in myself and my gear. On the way down, I felt amazing!. I felt like I was flying with the height of a bird, the sun on my face and a cool breeze touching the skin on the back of my neck. I loved every single second. I felt free, and alive!
A note about fear!
Do you know what I mean when I say there is something inside of you, and that something has the potential of taking over your entire life? Fear is that something for me. Sometimes i think to much and i let it take over. And so I put obstacles / challenges in my way, on purpose. I confront fear because I know, if I give in, it will swallow me up whole. Boom! Just like that. It’s rather ironic: fear: the very thing that often hinders me is by the same token, the reason why I do so much, and push myself so much. Im pretty hard on myself and i push myself too achieve things it keeps me feeling alive and that freedom feeling! Also concurring my fears helps push me to new levels things id never thought id be able to do, believing in myself again!
I faced fear, went hands free, jumped off a cliff and felt like a bird!
Abseiling down Mt Ngungun was one of the best experiences of my life 🙂
One life, One shot, So make it count, Live your dream!!!!
